Google has long refused to filter the search by these standards.
Google has begun to remove links to sites banned in Russia from the search engine. Vedomosti reports citing an employee of the giant Internet company.
The list of sites, access to which is limited since November 2017, is carried out by Roskomnadzor. It includes pages containing calls for extremism, suicide propaganda, and pornography advertising, gambling without a license, as well as pirate bay, access to which is restricted in Russia forever.
Google has long refused to filter these websites. At the same time, according to the company, only in the first half of 2018, the Russian government agencies made 19.192 such requests, which is 75% of the total number of applications from all countries of the world. The Russian watchdog repeatedly complained to Google, and at the end of November 2018 an administrative case was brought against the company, and a fine of half a million rubles was awarded. Moreover, the RKN threatened to block the search engine in the Russian Federation.
